Thus says the Lord:
“Stand by the roads, and look,
and ask for the ancient paths,
where the good way is; and walk in it,
and find rest for your souls.
But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’
“The old truth that Calvin preached, that Augustine preached, that Paul preached, is the truth that I must preach to-day, or else be false to my conscience and my God. I cannot shape the truth; I know of no such thing as paring off the rough edges of a doctrine.” – C. H. Spurgeon
Dear brothers and sisters, there is only one absolute Truth, the Truth that was preached by Spurgeon, by the Puritans, by Calvin and Luther, by Augustine, by the apostles – it is the ancient Gospel proclaimed by Jesus himself.
We believe in the only true God, whose Word is immutable. This Truth does not need to be adjusted to suit different cultures or philosophies, and does not need to be interpreted by the novel theology created by sinners. God’s Word is meant to be proclaimed to every generation, to every cultural background.
Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”
